News > Picker announces new CEO

Picker has today announced the appointment of Chris Graham as its new Chief Executive. Chris has been the organisation’s Acting CEO since the recent retirement of Dr Andrew McCulloch, and takes up his new post with immediate effect.

Chairman Stuart Bell, CBE, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Chris into his new role. We have had the opportunity to work with Chris for many years in his role as Director of Research and Policy, and more recently as Acting CEO, and have been impressed by the leadership he has brought and his commitment to Picker’s values and our mission. We wish him every success in his new role and on behalf of the Board, look forward to working with him to drive the Charity’s vision of the highest care quality for all”.

Of his new appointment, Chris said:

“I am delighted and honoured to be taking on the role of Chief Executive at Picker. Having worked with the organisation for many years, I have a deep commitment to our cause and I am passionate about promoting person centred care. This is an exciting time for the organisation, as we have many opportunities to help organisations move beyond measurement to drive real improvements in people’s experiences. I look forward to working the skilled, dedicated team at Picker to help the organisation build on its existing reputation for excellence.”

Since January 2011, Chris has led Picker’s research and policy directorate focusing on the development and coordination of large scale research and service evaluation projects. In this role Chris was the Chief Investigator for the NHS Patient and Staff Survey Coordination Centres, run on behalf of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and NHS England respectively, as well as being involved in research focusing on the measurement and improvement of patient experience. Before joining Picker, Chris spent several years working at the Healthcare Commission and CQC, where he was responsible for overseeing a number of special studies and surveys undertaken within the national survey programme. Chris studied Experimental Psychology at Pembroke College, University of Oxford.
