Project title: Independent Evaluation of Q

Lead researcher: Molly Blackwell

About the project:

On behalf of the Health Foundation, Picker is conducting a two-year Independent Evaluation of Q, in partnership with ResPeo and Healthcare Priority Solutions (HPS). The purpose of this evaluation is to provide insight to Q on how their activities are currently creating impact, ultimately informing Q’s future strategic development decisions.

To date, we have interviewed internal Q stakeholders, conducted two workshops, and have launched the first of two member surveys. The next step is to interview members of the Q community to hear directly about the impact of Q membership at a personal level, as well as on wider networks and within the organisation/context within which the members work (if applicable).

About the project:

The Scottish Government has commissioned Picker to carry out an evaluation of the Redesign of Urgent Care (RUC) pathway in Scotland.

As part of our review, we will be running three online focus groups with staff working across the urgent care pathway, including clinical staff working in primary and secondary urgent care settings, call handlers at 111 and Flow Navigation Centres (FNCs), and staff in managerial roles (such as the RUC Implementation Leads). We are interested in the key learnings and any challenges that have arisen from the implementation of the RUC pathway. We are keen to speak with people who have a range of experiences of RUC – whether that is positive, negative, or mixed.

Project title: National Cancer Patient Experience Survey 2024
Lead researcher: Caroline Hancock at Picker, on behalf of NHS England

About:
The survey has been implemented thirteen times since 2010. We want to test the questionnaire ahead of its fourteenth iteration running in late 2024 to ensure it makes sense and is clearly understood by patients completing it.

We are looking for participants aged 16 or above who have a confirmed primary diagnosis of cancer and have received cancer-related treatment from the NHS within the last year.

Project Title: My Insight: the cardiomyopathy UK national survey

About: Picker, on behalf of Cardiomyopathy UK, is redeveloping a patient and carer survey. This will focus on the experience of UK adults (aged 16 and over) living with cardiomyopathy and/or their parents and carers. We want to understand experiences of diagnosis, treatment care and support, and any impacts of living with cardiomyopathy. The survey results will help improve services.

To support the development of the survey, we are conducting one-hour online interviews via audio or video call. We are carrying out the interviews during April, May and June 2024.
