Research Statistician and Analyst
Alan joined Picker in November 2017 and works as a Research Statistician and Analyst. He leads the implementation and improvement of processes related to the preparation and analysis of quantitative data and associated outputs. This includes contributing to the work of the NHS Patient and Staff Survey Coordination Centres.
Alan produces statistics for national surveys of the CQC and NHSE, including staff, inpatients, and mental health surveys. He contributes to research and evaluation projects, the development of capacity in statistical analysis and interpretation, and the provision of support and training across the organisation.
Alan has over ten years’ post-doctoral research and analysis experience, particularly in Quality Improvement. He provides statistical, and research support to healthcare managers through expert workshops hosted by NHS England London; frontline staff through coaching and mentoring; and is an international publishing and presenting author of peer-reviewed articles.
Alan is not just about numbers and provides coaching and mentoring for students and staff in research and project management. He is experienced in the development and implementation of surveys, interviews, and focus groups. His research interests are in healthcare service improvement, statistical process control, urgent and emergency care, and public engagement and involvement with science.
